Camp Program Descriptions

The first week of camp will incorporate all of these camp elements into one action-packed week!

The following camps can then be chosen as specialties over the following four weeks. Campers will spend the morning at their specialty then have the opportunity to take elective classes from other specialties in the afternoon. All camps incorporate a mid-day swimming break!

Challenge Camp: With the guidance of certified, professional instructors, you will have the opportunity to meet Verdun’s 12 high ropes challenges! Start on the ground with low ropes challenges, then ascend to the finale as you take on the “Flight of the Red Tail Hawk”, one of the longest zip-lines in Virginia!

Survival & Sustainability Camp: “Enoughness” to the limits! Survival challenges, group building, Native American concepts of sustainability, and ropes course challenges make up the core elements of this camp experience!

Equestrian Camp: Do you like horses? Passage Creek Shires and Friends joins Verdun for this year’s Equestrian Camp. Ride a gentle giant, the Shire Horse! Known for their calm nature and strong stature, the Shire is the perfect horse for the sport of vaulting. If you haven’t heard of vaulting you will soon learn that its like gymnastics on horseback!

Fine Arts Camp: From painting and sculpting to creative writing, Fine Arts camp focuses on the creativity that lives inside all of us! Learn in a collaborative environment with talented artists as instructors. Express yourself with different mediums and discover the artist within!

Performance Arts Camp: Spend a week at the “Theater in the Woods”, Verdun’s newest facility. Campers will be introduced to theater via games and exercises that become performance opportunities. Traditional challenges such as elements from Verdun’s ropes course will add to the excitement of each day’s activities!
