CHALLENGE COURSES

The 67-acre Verdun facility houses an impressive challenge course including 13 unique low rope challenges, 8 dynamically belayed high rope elements, a 45’ climbing tower, a 6-element statically belayed high ropes course circuit, a 4-element adaptive high ropes course, and three zip lines. Verdun’s experienced facilitators use each one of these tools to provide unique experiential learning opportunities to meet the needs of your team.

All Verdun challenges are Challenge By Choice. This means participants choose their own measure of success by setting goals they believe they can reach. No participant will ever be pressured into climbing higher than they choose to go. However, our staff are well versed in encouraging other forms of participation so that no group member is ever excluded.

LOW ROPES COURSE

The low ropes course is comprised of unique challenges our facilitators choose based on the needs of the group. Each unique element poses a different challenge the team must work together to overcome. After completing each challenge our facilitators will engage the group in an impactful debrief conversation where the participants discuss the strategies that worked or did not work and how these insights relate to challenges they may face in the future.

STATIC COURSE

Our Static Course is a traditional style high ropes course circuit. Participants will ascend the 45-foot climbing tower either by climbing the face of the tower or by climbing the stairs underneath the tower. Participants are then equipped with Edelrid Smart Belay systems which are a specialized self-locking belay device that allow them to traverse the 6-element static course with two safety contact points at all times and eliminates the potential risk of ever unclipping both points while completing transitions. Once they have completed the 6-element circuit, participants descend the climbing tower by riding down a 650’ zip line! The static high ropes course is a thrilling experience for participants that is great for teaching/building resiliency, confidence, positive relationships, and goal setting.

DYNAMICALLY BELAYED HIGH ROPE ELEMENTS

Dynamically belayed high rope elements allow us to bring teambuilding to another level. These elements are stand alone and range from 30-45 feet high. Participants are challenged to reach goals of their choice on each challenge with the rest of their team providing them with the support they need to succeed. Participants are equipped with safety equipment by a certified Verdun Facilitator. Participants are then belayed on a climbing rope by a combination of a Verdun facilitator and the team members themselves, providing the illusion that the team is responsible for their safety. These elements are a great option for building resiliency, trust, encouragement skills, strong relationships, and more! These elements are also thrilling with options such as the Giant Swing, The Leap of Faith and the 45-foot Climbing Tower!

ADAPTIVE HIGH ROPES COURSE

The Adaptive High Ropes Course is designed and equipped to accommodate participants of all physical abilities. This specialized equipment allows wheelchair bound participants the opportunity to traverse 4 unique high rope elements and ride the 650’ zip line back to the ground. Participants are guided through the course by two highly trained Verdun facilitators allowing for participants of all levels of physical and intellectual abilities the opportunity to participate.
